Gregory Simons, CPA

Principal and Founder 

Greg has been an accounting professional since 1988, having worked for two Big Four accounting firms as an auditor and manager for special projects for six years. He also worked for a Fortune 500 company as an Internal Auditor for over a year. In 1995, Greg founded Simons Bitzer & Associates and has focused his time on providing services to small- and medium-sized businesses in Central Indiana. He has served as Chief Financial Officer for several organizations, and has specialized in working with tax agencies to resolve difficult tax matters. Greg’s current focus is on managing client relationships, working with businesses in strategic areas, helping clients resolve common business issues, and working with the firm’s Tax Specialists to maximize tax savings to businesses and individuals. Greg was named the 2011 Outstanding CPA in Public Practice by the Indiana CPA Society.

Kevin Aaron - Simons Bitzer Consulting and Tax Specialist Kevin Aaron

Tax & Business Adviser 

Kevin has spent his professional career working with small to medium-sized businesses.  As an accountant, business advisor, and entrepreneur, Kevin has developed the skills to assist business owners with issues related to strategic and business planning, tax minimization, wealth creation and business coaching.  He counsels our customers on strategies related to property taxes, abatements, R&D tax credits, as well as business set-up and structure. Kevin joined the firm in 2004 and has been integral in expanding our firm in the area of business development and tax consulting.  Kevin works directly with business owners to understand and measure their profitability in order to improve their business performance.  Kevin manages and oversees the preparation of business and individual tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.

Joan Brockman, CPA

Senior Tax Specialist

Joan began her public accounting career in 1989.  She has worked in the tax department of a large public accounting firm as well as an international corporation.  She is a tax consultant and holds a CPA license in Indiana.  Joan has experience in corporate, individual, nonprofit, fiduciary, gift tax compliance and customer/IRS representation and intercession.  As a tax and compliance manager, Joan works with many of the firm’s customers, including international businesses.  She brought her extensive experience to Simons Bitzer & Associates in August 2008 to expand our services in tax compliance and consulting.

Lynn Greggs - Simons Bitzer Accounting and Controllership Specialist Lynn Greggs

Accounting & Controllership Specialist 

Lynn Greggs  has been an accounting professional for over 20 years.  She began her career in public accounting at Ernst & Young as a Senior Auditor working primarily in the banking, healthcare, motorsports and nonprofit industries.  Later, Lynn worked as the CFO for St. Elizabeth’s Home. She also served as the Director of Accounting at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its related companies, including two foundations, for nine years.  Prior to joining Simons Bitzer, she served as the Director of Finance and Operations at the International School of Indiana.  In this role, Lynn directed strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis and financial reporting for the school for five years.  She works with a variety of the firms’ customers from nonprofit, to manufacturers to motorsports.  Lynn has conducted several audit preparation projects while at Simons Bitzer and enjoys the challenge as well as the interaction with the auditors.  She performs internal audit work and enjoys diving into the operational areas of the businesses and watching them improve.  Having both audited and worked for nonprofit organizations, Lynn brings a broad range of experience as well as a unique and well rounded perspective to our firm.

Kathy Hopkins

Accounting & Controllership Specialist 

Kathy Hopkins has been an accounting professional since 1985.  Prior to joining Simons Bitzer, she served as the Accounting Controller directing strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis and financial reporting for 2 large commercial construction companies for a combined total of 20 years.  She has served as an officer and member of state and national board of directors for a number of not-for-profit organizations including Associated Builders & Contractors, National Center of Construction Education and Research, The Indianapolis Construction Alliance, The Indianapolis Museum of Art and Indianapolis 500 Festival Associates.  She was elected with distinction as the first female president of Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana and held the office of Treasurer for 4 years overseeing the accounting staff and financial reporting for the organization.  In addition, Kathy has served as a facilitator and leader for strategic business planning sessions and seminars on a variety of business and software topics.

Jason Saunders-Simons Bitzer Tax Specialist Jason Saunders

Tax & Accounting Specialist

Jason Saunders joins Simons Bitzer & Associates as a Tax and Accounting Specialist.  Jason received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Cornell University.  He subsequently obtained his MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Masters degree in Accounting from IUPUI.  Jason has worked for University of Phoenix, Ivy Tech Community College, and most recently a local public accounting firm.  Jason truly enjoys researching new tax codes and brings extensive tax planning and preparation experience to our firm.

Diane Giese

Accounting Analyst

Diane Giese began her public accounting career in 1988.  Diane worked as a Controller for two companies before launching her own bookkeeping firm.  As a member of our team, Diane takes a true hands-on approach to working with our customers.  She works with vendors to establish payment plans for our customers, returning them to a manageable level of accounts payable.  Additionally, she has transitioned several customers from manual bookkeeping to regular input of data into QuickBooks.  Diane is frequently asked by outside organizations to conduct QuickBooks training at both the beginner and intermediate levels.  Having worked in finance banking, mortgage lending, and CPA firm administration, her business finance knowledge solidly assists our customers as their organizations grow.

Clara Lehman

Accounting Analyst

Clara Lehman is an Accounting Analyst for Simons Bitzer & Associates.  During her professional career, she has obtained years of accounting experience in various industries. Her responsibilities have included accounts payable, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, budgeting and audit preparation. Additionally, Clara served as a Financial Analyst for Thomson Consumer Electronics and has performed accounting work for the government at both state and federal levels.  Clara has also spent six years as a financial advisor. Since joining the firm, Clara has prepared yearly budgets, variance analyses, and QuickBooks set-up and clean-up. Clara is experienced with several accounting software programs making her versatile and efficient. Her breadth of experience and well rounded background serve our customers well.

Amber McDonough - Simons Bitzer Accounting Analyst Amber McDonough

Accounting Analyst 

Amber began her career with Simons Bitzer in early 2011.  Her attention to detail and excellent customer service were quickly recognized and she was promoted to Accounting Analyst working directly with the firm’s customers.  Prior to joining Simons Bitzer, she held positions as administrative assistant and loan officer while also being a small business owner herself.  Her areas of expertise include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general accounting for multiple companies.   She enjoys assisting with year-end data entry and write-up work, helping our customers prepare for their business tax returns.  Amber brings a diverse background to our firm.

Robin Campbell

Office Manager

Robin Campbell began her administrative career in 1996.  She has held positions as receptionist, legal assistant and administrative manager.  Robin joined our team in 2007 and her areas of expertise include administration, management, financing, tax administration and general accounting.  She maintains and oversees the day to day functions of the firm and works closely with our principals, team, and customers.  Robin was instrumental in implementing the Thomson Reuters Practice CS software at the firm and continues to manage and train employees on this system.

Michelle Gill - Simons Bitzer Technical Services Administrator Michelle Gill

Technical Services Administrator

Michelle began her career 1997 and has held positions with non-profit organizations and within the mortgage industry.  She has been a receptionist, legal assistant and account manager. She enjoys serving the technical team with all aspects of administration, data entry, billing and report processing. In addition, Michelle maintains a cohesive relationship between our firm and our customers.

Administrative Assistant

Amy began her career at Simons Bitzer in 2012.  She has held positions in the legal and real estate industries.  She has been a legal assistant, office manager, property manager and controller.  Her areas of expertise include administration, general accounting, and customer relations.  Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and bookkeeping background are a true asset to our firm.
